This article presents two fragments of votive beds found at the Ramesseum, discussing their findspot, iconography, and dating. Votive beds appeared solely in Thebes during the Third Intermediate Period, mainly in domestic contexts. Their decoration is related to female fertility, birth, and rebirth, but also to the life-giving properties of the flood. Thanks to new discoveries, votive beds have also been confirmed at the Ramesseum, specifically at the Third Intermediate Period necropolis, which reused the temple’s storehouses. This paper is the first step in a comprehensive review of the data on votive beds, aiming to determine the number of fragments uncovered during past research, as well as to enhance the understanding of the context of their discovery and the meaning behind their presence in the area.
